Welcome TPT Sellers πŸ‘‹

Quickly transfer your TPT products to TeachBuySell with our new bulk import tool. It's designed to save you time and hassle so you can get selling quicker.

πŸ”” Note: Access to the bulk importer tool is granted after completing our quality review process. This involves creating and publishing your first listing on TeachBuySell. Once you've been reviewed and verified, enjoy the ease of bulk importing.

Why use the bulk importer?

  • Avoid manual listing creation.

  • Get your products up for sale faster.

  • Save time for what you love doing! (unless you enjoy data entry)

How it works

Our import tool effortlessly adds your TPT products to our marketplace. It creates draft listings complete with all necessary product information retrieved from TPT, including thumbnails!

Your role:

  • Choose Products: Select which TPT products you want to import and make any adjustments before importing to create the new listings.

  • Review & Publish: Once listings are created, simply review them and add your resource files before publishing.

The process in 4 simple steps:

  1. Extraction: We extract details on your TPT products and email you a CSV file with this data.

  2. Verification: Upload your CSV using our import tool to review and check the data for accuracy, ensuring it aligns with our marketplace categories.

  3. Importing: Once verified and ready to import, we'll create draft listings for you which includes all the listing details including thumbnails.

  4. Publication: Simply add your resource files to the new draft listings and you're now ready to publish!

What you need to do

πŸ“Ή I've recorded my screen in case it helps you through the process. Apologies in advance for my dodgy video editing.

Step 1: Get Your TPT Data

We'll email you a csv file of all your TPT products that are available for sale. Just provide us with your TPT store's URL and then click the 'Email my TPT products' button.

  1. Sign in to your TBS account

  2. Select the 'Bulk Import' button from the Manage listings page.

Note: If you haven't been verified, this button will be disabled. To enable, publish a listing to go through our once-off quality review process. Once you've been reviewed and verified, you'll then have access to the bulk importer tool.

  3. Enter your TPT store URL.

  4. Click 'Email my TPT products' button.

  5. Wait for file to be emailed: We'll email you a CSV file (or files) with your TPT product data (files are split in to records of 50 for importing purposes).

πŸ”” If you haven't received your CSV files within 2 hours, please contact us at [email protected] for assistance.

Step 2: Prepare your data

🚨 Important: Do not modify the headers in the csv files.

They are designed specifically for the import tool so that your TPT data can align to our marketplace.

For instance, we allow up to 3 subjects, so in the CSV you will see Subject 1...3 as headers. If your TPT listing has 4 subjects, we will have only extracted the first 3 under these headers.

  1. Save the CSV file(s) to your computer: These files were emailed in Step 1 above.

  2. Open import tool: Click 'Open import tool' button.

  3. Upload 1 CSV file:
Important: Start by uploading your single listing files before importing bundles.

Drag and drop, or click the area that says 'What data do you want to upload?', and browse to the files from step 1.

Step 3: Correct and update your data

πŸ“š Aligning with our Categories: Since our platform is tailored to Australian resources, some TPT categories may not be directly supported.

You will need to use the import tool to align your product categories with our marketplace, like changing 'Math' to 'Mathematics - General'.

  1. Delete unwanted rows: Right click on the row > Delete row.

  2. Correct errors: Update red-highlighted cells to align with our marketplace.
(SEE TIPS SECTION BELOW TO MAKE QUICK UPDATES)

  3. Link to your online storage using the 'Product Files URL' column: If you store your resource files online such as Google Drive or Dropbox, using the 'Product Files URL' column will help save you time when finalising your new TBS listings. You'll be able to quickly add files from your online storage to your new listings. Simply add a link to where your file is stored, and after we create your listings, we'll send you an email which includes the links to your new TBS listings as well as the 'Product Files URL' you provide.

  4. Use the column '% Price Adjustment Rate (USD to AUD)' to adjust prices:

    • Understand the Price Adjustment: The '% Price Adjustment Rate (USD to AUD)' column in your CSV file is used to adjust the prices from USD (TPT pricing) to AUD (TeachBuySell pricing). This adjustment ensures that your listings are competitively priced in our marketplace.

    • Set the Right Adjustment Rate: Check the '% Price Adjustment Rate (USD to AUD)' column. Make sure this rate reflects the current USD to AUD conversion rate, or adjust it based on your pricing strategy.

    • Conversion Example: For instance, if a TPT product is priced at $1.00 USD and the adjustment rate is set at 45%, the importer tool will calculate the new price as approximately $1.45 AUD for your listing on TeachBuySell.

  5. Enhance your listings: Add data to our specific categories for better visibility and relevance. Our additional categories include:
    - Curriculum Alignment and other
    - Curriculum Achievement Standards
    - Curriculum Additional Context
    - Learning Setting(s)
    - Theme/Event 1..3
    - Teaching Method 1..3
    - Learning Needs 1..3
    - Font Style (Australian school fonts)

Tip: Doing it within the import tool will be quicker than adding one by one later.

Step 4: Finalise your import

  1. Click Import: Once all errors are corrected, select the 'Import' button to start the backend import process.

  2. Wait for Draft listings to be created: We'll create your listings in a 'Draft' state and email you once done.

πŸ”” If you haven't received an email letting you know your listings were created within 2 hours, please contact us at [email protected] for assistance.

Step 5: Add Resource Files and Publish

  1. Download TPT Resources: Use the links in the email to trigger downloads of your TPT resource files (ensure you're logged into TPT).

  2. Review and Attach Files: Open each draft listing, drag and drop the downloaded resource files directly into the listing's 'Files & Previews' tab.

  3. Final Review: Make sure everything is in order, prices are correct, relevant subjects, year levels, resource type etc has been entered.

  4. Go Live: Publish your listings on TeachBuySell to start selling.

🚨 Important: Remove all links to TPT

As your TPT product descriptions might contain links to related TPT products or your TPT store, we attempt to strip these out when we create your TBS draft listing.

We don't want our audience of buyers being led away to an external site they did not expect. Where appropriate, make sure to update descriptions to point to your new TBS listings and store.

πŸ’‘ Tip to improve thumbnail quality

During the import process, we retrieve your thumbnails from TPT and upload it to your new TBS listing. However, the thumbnail from TPT is compressed and low-quality which means they show up on our site a bit blurry. To maximise your thumbnail appearance, I suggest uploading your original thumbnails instead of using the TPT ones.

βœ… Tips for a Smoother Import:

Search and Replace: Quickly correct invalid data.

Click on the red cell to browse the list of valid options. One selected, replace all other instances with the valid value.

View Errors Only: Focus on problematic areas.

If you want to narrow your focus, click the error type from the right-side menu to view only those certain records.

Replace with Empty: Remove unwanted data easily.

If you can't find a suitable option for your invalid data (or just want it removed), replace with Empty. Scroll to the bottom of the available options to see the Empty option.

Use Relevant Categories: Align your products with our marketplace's categories.

In example above, the TPT product has a subject containing 'Christmas'. That is not a valid subject for our marketplace. Instead, use our more appropriate theme/event category if you want to categorise your product as being themed for Christmas.
